Michael is a Founder and Managing Partner of Rigel Associates. Prior to his activities at Rigel Associates, Michael was a Managing Director and the Head of Private Placements at U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray where he was responsible for the firm’s private placements in the consumer, financial services, healthcare and technology and communications sectors. He was also a member of the firm’s ECM Fund Investment Committee. During his tenure there, Michael completed over $400 million in private financing transactions and leveraged private placement clients into successful M&A and public market financing opportunities. Prior to joining U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray in early 1999, Michael was with Salomon Smith Barney's Technology and Multi-Industrial investment banking groups where he was involved in initial and secondary public offerings, private placement and convertible debt financings and M&A transactions in the consumer & industrial products, manufacturing, technology & communications and transportation & logistics sectors in the US, Canada and Israel. Previously, Michael was also with Nesbitt Thomson in Toronto, Canada where he completed a broad array of equity and debt financings and developed and structured innovative capital markets securities. Michael was also a founding board member of Workbrain (TSX: WB), a workforce management software company, which completed its initial public offering in December 2003. Prior to his career in investment banking, Michael worked at IBM, General Electric and Exxon developing software applications.

Michael received a B.A.Sc. in Systems Design Engineering with a focus on Management Science from the University of Waterloo and a Masters of Business Administration from Columbia Business School. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.
